On any given Saturday somewhere on the planet, a dinner with friends at home, the table decorated down to the smallest detail awaits the guests and in the meantime the doorbell rings. “Welcome! Would you like a beer in the kitchen while we finish dinner? Of course, the answer is yes, but two hours pass and after more guests arrive, the party is in the kitchen where some no longer feel like eating dinner.
Does this scene ring a bell? Well, this is another case of the power of socialization that the kitchen implies. And we are not talking about the kitchen as a physical space, but about the kitchen as a discipline in its entirety.
That is why the kitchen is used more and more every day in multiple activities that seek to socialize, and in general that seek a meeting space away from the mundane occupations that today burden our agendas, distancing us from the social being that we are by nature.
There are many occasions in which we can extract those advantages that socialization in the kitchen can bring us in different formats such as courses, group cooking, etc.:
- As an activity for travelers, who can share their different gastronomic cultures in cooking courses or sitting at the table with other people from different countries and exchanging their different secrets and anecdotes.
- As solutions for companies that seek to strengthen ties between teams and in general between all its components, through cooking courses as team building activities. And it is that after hard days of work where there is hardly any room for socializing, what better than finding these moments of peace around a kitchen. In addition, it allows international companies the possibility of uniting their different delegations in a different, collaborative environment that allows its members to express themselves more freely while sharing their gastronomic customs or knowing those of the organizing country.
- In general to meet other people, beyond being a traveler, if not being in your own city or town, where on so many occasions it becomes so difficult to expand a circle of friends or the search for new people to learn from or with whom to share experiences. For this, being part of a cooking course or a themed cooking party can help many people to widen their circles in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
- As therapy in different situations of anxiety or discomfort, around a kitchen, seeking to be able to enjoy the present moment, freeing the mind while preparing different preparations or sharing these moments with more people to learn from and of course help find those havens of peace and tranquility that seem so difficult to find some times in today’s society.
- And of course, as a space for the exchange of knowledge; This is why we often talk about cooking courses. These can be for amateurs taught by a chef, or they can be courses for professionals, and even in the form of activities for the exchange of cultures or gastronomic knowledge between different amateurs.
As we can see, there is a wide catalog of objectives and circumstances that can lead us to carry out or organize a course or other cooking activities in which to enjoy, learn and even improve our interior. Although from our experience after more than 10 years carrying out these activities, we always recommend going with an open mind to learning, that is, with the utmost humility and, of course, open to knowing and sharing the moment with others.
Undoubtedly, this need for continuous attention, for cyclical waiting in search of the next step or to add the next ingredient, is one of the main characteristics that make cooking one of the most popular activities today to find those havens of calm for companies and individuals, both in their destinations and in their travel activities.
