When we visit cities and towns in Spain or anywhere else in the world, we are a multitude (in growth) who are looking for special experiences, different from the standard such as beaches, museums, churches, etc. and in our case those experiences, how could it be otherwise, they are related to the world of gastronomy.
That is why we want to share with you what are the best experiences that we have known and enjoyed in the first person so far with the aim that they can be lived by each and every one of our readers and clients. And as you will see, the list is only three routes or gastronomic experiences, but reality has taught us the difficulty of finding those activities that meet some requirements as important as not seeking exclusively an economic benefit but rather transmit the reality of an environment, of some food and that even all this is enlivened by the people who really make it possible for that environment to exist.
So, here we go with our three recommendations for a gastronomic route through Spain:
RUTA’L QUESO Y LA SIDRA (Cheese and cider route), in Asturias – Asiegu (Cabrales)
Once you live a day with the inhabitants of this beautiful and charming town of Asiego, in Cabrales, you will want to repeat it as many times as you can and look for something similar in other parts of Spain. Departing from the Casa Niembro cider house, you will tour the surroundings of the town, its fields and streets, visit the herds of sheep, the spectacular Cabrales cheese cave and the iconic Asturian cider press where you will taste the cider and the most typical dishes of the region. In a family atmosphere, full of interesting stories about the elaboration of its products and rural life, it becomes, from our point of view, an experience that you cannot miss. We do not know if it will be because of their food or because all the activity is carried out together with the people who work and live every day creating each of these products, but what we do know is that it is a unique experience:

VISIT TO THE SAN ESTEBAN WINERY, in Madrid – Cenicientos
It is not just a visit to a winery, in fact, visiting the winery does not even begin the experience. The first thing you will do is ride with the organizers in their 4×4 to visit a few kilometers beyond the winery the impressive archaeological landscape and historical heritage of Roman culture. You will then tour its vineyards, where in addition to soaking up the explanations and experience of the organizers, you will enjoy a spectacular tasting of its wines and snacks on sausages and cheeses from the outdoor area.
The visit ends in its cellar, knowing its interior and the elaboration of its wines. Another experience where you will feel like one more inhabitant of Cenicientos and you will blend in with the agri-food culture of the area.

TERRAGUST, in Majorca – Manacor
Terragust is a must-see place within the island of Majorca, with different options to choose from, among which we highlight the “Tour and tasting menu”, which consists of seeing first-hand its fields of fruit trees, even picking the seasonal fruit that want to enjoy later at home, and end the evening with an exquisite dinner with the best produce on the island. It is a very enriching experience, which unites you to the countryside like no other, and which allows you to get to know an island like Majorca from a less touristic point of view and difficult to find in high season.
We hope that you will have the opportunity to live these experiences at some point, just as we would love to receive your experiences to continue expanding the list of the best gastronomic experiences in Spain through our Instagram @origeneskitchen or our email hola@jesusindia.es.
Greetings and hugs from the Orígenes Spanish kitchen team.
