Team buildings, or activities created to strengthen team spirit between people, arise from the need to increase cohesion between humans within a company. And it is that, we are increasingly aware that good labor management arises as a result of good human management.
This is why, in recent years, we have been seeing more frequently the appearance of many gastronomic team building models, or what is the same, activities created to generate reinforcement between members of a team, carried out in these cases around the kitchen or through other gastronomic activities.
And it is not only about doing these activities with the aim of having a good time but some of the advantages that these activities generate in the environment of the people and groups that carry them out are of vital importance. The five most important are the following:
• Generate motivation: managing to involve people in the activities created by the company or by the group manager, and which by extension ends up becoming a greater motivation towards the day-to-day activities of the attendees.
• Increase team spirit: making each of the team members strengthen ties and generate greater closeness with the other members, leading them to improve their relationships at work or in daily activities.
• Facilitates communication: as a result of the previous point, communication between members of a group is facilitated, and their positions are closer, facilitating the management of even crises that end up being more easily manageable.
• Creates healthy competitiveness: a “game” environment is generated in which you want to compete but with the sole objective of generating a greater climate of fun. It ends up changing the competition in search of results in which pride prevails, for a healthy competition.
• Increases creativity: and of course, carrying out activities where a climate of friendship and freedom is generated, leads the members to show each other what they are like, something that ends up being the basis for having a clear and more creative mind. And this not only stays in the kitchen, but it remains as part of the personality to show to colleagues in the future.
In addition, when we talk about teams, we are not only talking about companies, which of course are the groups that most appreciate this type of event in which they even allow you to give a new look to your Christmas or summer company lunch or dinner, in addition to all advantages mentioned above, but there are many other types of groups that can adapt a team building in the kitchen, such as sports clubs, associations, groups of students and alumni, friends, etc,… The fact is that each type of profile or group, always has some activity to suit you in the kitchen and gastronomic environment.
And knowing all the advantages that a gastronomic team building can bring, the question that appears in our minds is… and putting this into practice, what kind of specific activities can be carried out? Some that we can propose are:
• Participatory cooking courses, where the entire team, in addition to learning certain recipes, collaborates by working together to be able to taste a team lunch or dinner.
• Team competitions, this option being an extension of the cooking course option, but where they are divided into two or more teams to create a competition to prepare the best dishes.
• Gastronomic routes, or visits to different spaces related to gastronomy, from tapas routes to visits to producers in which to prepare a typical meal and even help milk animals.
• Activities in nature, with the aim of escaping from noise and big cities, we can go from picking fruit with which to make our own creations to cooking a paella under the trees of a field in which we will enjoy rural life as a team.
• Visits to markets, to learn about the origin of the product in large cities, and to be able to enjoy food at its origin without moving away from our offices or headquarters.
As you can see, there are many advantages of a gastronomic team building, so at Orígenes Kitchen we are delighted to be able to offer you the organization of these activities in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, either in cooking schools or in outdoor spaces, as well as in your own space or company if you need it. Tell us what activity you are thinking of and we will shape it.
